4 I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that has been given you in Christ Jesus, 5for in every way you have been enriched in him, in speech and knowledge of every kind— 6just as the testimony of Christ has been strengthened among you— 7so that you are not lacking in any spiritual gift as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ. 8He will also strengthen you to the end, so that you may be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9God is faithful; by him you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

1 Corinthians 1:4-9

Ho Hum. Do you ever feel “Ho Hum?” It seems like Fall should be starting. The daylight time is getting shorter. School in back in full swing. It’s still hot. And it’s still hot. This can give you the “ho hums” for sure! Endless summer, another day, another bill, another … whatever. Ho hum.

On the other hand, God is still good! God is on the move! God is still in control! The Holy Spirit is at work! Jesus’ death on the cross still covers all your sins! This is definitely non-ho hum news! I have to tell you that I am SO excited for Faith Fellowship! I see the Spirit moving. I hear joy and anticipation in your voices and your words. I know that God has started his plan among us.

I am excited to be at Faith Fellowship. This is great time to be here. It’s also a great time to be in LCMC and in Augustana District. God is doing big things in all these bodies. LCMC is rolling out new leadership support, small churches are the focus for our service coordinator, Mike Bradley, and LCMC continues to grow in its faith and theological soundness as well as in numbers. Augustana is reaching out in new directions to communicate with the almost 90 congregations in the district. We are looking at new ways to be connected to and in service to our churches. Bruce Shearer is serving as a district council member and is learning about the district.

This year we welcomed our first Seminary Intern and we hit the jackpot with Laura! What a blessing she has been. Bee Loved Cancer support group has started meeting in our building and is a beautiful service to people in need. We have children’s education and ministry underway. The building is getting some additional TLC, Bible Studies are going strong and we are inviting people to come and hear. God is moving in and through Faith Fellowship.

I greatly appreciate your role in our church’s life. Your prayers for and participation in the church is vital. Everything we are doing is setting us up for the future God has in store for us. He is prepping us to make a bigger impact in our community and share the good news of His love and forgiveness to a hurting people. You are the key to the church’s influence in the community. I give thanks to God for you and pray that he gives you boldness to step out in faith when he calls to you step out.

At Faith Fellowship things are anything but ho hum. Life here is exciting and on the move within the Spirit’s breath. Please continually lift the church in prayer that our ears hear God and respond to his guidance. God bless each of you in his grace and give you peace and all joy!
