22Moreover, some women of our group astounded us. They were at the tomb early this morning, 23and when they did not find his body there, they came back and told us that they had indeed seen a vision of angels who said that he was alive.”

Luke 24:22-23

They said that “he was alive.” How believable was that? Really, would you have believed it? We believe but we have the benefit of 2000 years of hindsight. We have the Holy Word of God written out for us in English. We have the church who has explained all of this to us for years.

“He is risen!” is our cry. “He lives!” is our song. Our entire faith is based on the fact that, he lives and that as he lives, we too will live.” Romans 6:8-9, “8But if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. 9We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him.” And 2Timothy 2:11, “11The saying is sure: If we have died with him, we will also live with him.”

So, you believe that Jesus the Messiah died, was buried, descended into hell, and on the third day rose again. If this is indeed true, then the rest is true as well. The rest is true for you. We, too, have died; we, too, will rise. You have died to your sins (drowned in the waters of baptism) and you too will rise into the glorious light of life everlasting. You will rise into the life without tears, disease, or sadness. You will rise into the perfect love of the Father. You will see your Savior face to face. You will see his nail scarred hands and feet. You will see the love in his eyes. You will see the one in whose image you were created. “12For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then we will see face to face. Now I know only in part; then I will know fully, even as I have been fully known.” 1 Corinthians 13:12

This is the promise that the resurrection of Christ brings for you. This is the word of Easter for your ears. In this, praise and sing and rejoice! He is Risen! He is Risen Indeed!

Dwell in the Blessings & Promise of Easter,
