Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Romans 12.2

How do you feel about being transformed? Does the thought excite you or worry you? The Holy Spirit has complete power to renew your mind and transform you into a person who seeks only to do God’s will. When God changes our worldview, we stop looking at only the here and now, instead we start looking past this time and into the world to come. Looking past this world, changes how we see this world. Our priorities shift to be more in line with God’s will than with our own.

God’s transforming power in your life happens only within his mercy. Worship becomes how you live your life, not a time relegated to Sunday mornings. Your integrity, work ethic, putting others first, and the like become your life, your ministry. Your behavior no longer needs to be secret but can be scrutinized and not found lacking. Your personal choices begin to reflect God’s love for your neighbors instead of our sinful looking-out-for-good-ole-#1 behavior. This transformation is what creates the priesthood of all believers.

The priesthood of all believers means that each of us has a ministry. Your ministry likely happens in your workplace, or in your volunteer positions or with your physical neighbors. The church is NOT called to only be ministers within the confines of the church building. The church is the people, not a physical location. And the church works in the world. You are called, as a child of God, to minister to those around you. You are called to tell your story of how God has transformed and is transforming your life. You are called to be of service to those around you, not by just writing a check but also in an up close and personal way, to be the hands and feet of Christ. In your transformation, what is your God story? Can you tell that story out loud? Try it. What is your ministry? Who is around you that needs your help, your love and support? If you can’t think of anyone, ask God to open your eyes to see his people as HE sees them. God did not call you and teach you to leave you sitting on the couch. He calls you into his service in the world. It may be scary, but remember, he goes with you, even to the ends of the earth.

Happy Ministering!
